So?
2005, 12, 27 23:02
its cool cause it shows the season and year and league that each map came out in. save it for reference.
2005, 12, 28 10:10
It would be nice if there was an English version...
2005, 12, 28 11:23
stats like this are nice ;) Spor, do you have good knowledge of history of pro maps? An article about it might be very enjoyable:)
2005, 12, 28 15:15
" Lost Temple 2.4
PvZ 113:128 (46.9%) - balanced (0.1679511)
PvT 286:276 (50.9%) - balanced (0.3367943)
TvZ 242:235 (50.7%) - balanced (0.3744892)

Luna The Final
PvZ 242:265 (47.7%) - balanced (0.153999)
PvT 471:347 (57.6%) - definitely NOT balanced (8.273895e-06)
TvZ 318:266 (54.5%) - probably not balanced (0.01598572)

Rush Hour 2.0
PvZ 631:891 (41.5%) - definitely NOT balanced (1.878543e-11)
PvT 1346:1171 (53.5%) - definitely NOT balanced (0.0002479879)
TvZ 1027: 981 (51.1%) - balanced (0.1524416)

(note that by "balanced" what I really mean is, "there is no evidence here to show that the map is not balanced")

Before you jump to conclusions, don't forget that
a) these stats are based on ALL PGTour games, and
b) these calculations tell us PvZ and PvT on Rush Hour are both definitely not 50/50, but PvZ is pretty badly imbalanced (41.5/58.5) whereas PvT isn't really that bad (46.5/53.5). This is why it might be nice to have confidence intervals instead: an interval like 53%-54% might be acceptable imbalance, wheras 40%-43% might be unacceptable. " -Bill307

WCG MAPS -

Just some info i've collected on the terrible maps the WCG produces, most taken directly from the WCG site.

" Gaia
- Type : Central Power Map
- Main Base : 9M+1G (4)
- Players : 4 ( 1 o`clock, 6 o`clock, 7 o`clock, 11 o`clock)
- Near Base : 7M+1G (4)
- Tileset : Jungle World * Expansion : 8M (4), 6M+1G (2),
- Size : 128Ąż128
- Version : 0.90
Concept and History
Gaia is a line symmetrical map with unique starting point setting. It is relatively easy to secure a
second base near the main base, so there is a struggle for power halfway into the game. Also, the players must adapt a new strategy depending on their main base position.

For vertical positions, it is possible to rush using the second path that leads outwards.
For horizontal positions, the bases are closer by air, so the strategy of using both air and transport units could be used.
For diagonal positions, both players must go through the center area in order to attack each other. We can expect a large scale struggle and battle of resource management.

Feature
Since there are two possible rush routes, there are some strategic elements to this map. However, since the second base is relatively safe and because there is a large central area, this map is perfect for large scale resource management battle. Due to the large amount of positions for multiple expansions, Zerg can become stronger as time goes on, and Protoss can expand little by little. It may be a little bit difficult later on in the game for Terrans as there is no good place for building multiple bases other than the initial second base position.

Estrella
- Type : Central Power Island Map
- Main Base : 8M+1G (4)
- Players : 4 ( 3 o`clock, 6 o`clock, 9 o`clock, 12 o`clock)
- Near Base : 5M+1G (4)
- Tileset : Desert * Expansion : 8M+1G (4),
- Size : 128Ąż128
- Version : 0.90
Concept and History
Estrella is an island map where all bases, other than the main base, are connected by ground. The nearest gas mine is located in the center of the
map, so whoever controls the center can expand more easily. However, the gas mines in the corner are relatively safe and contains a lot of gas resources for easier defense. This map is all about who secures the center area faster.

Concept and History

However, the gas mines in the corner are relatively safe and contains a lot of gas resources for easier defense. This map is all about who secures the center area faster.

Feature
Whoever takes the center area has an advantage because of the multiple gas mines. However, Zerg and Protoss can concentrate on the starting point, expand using the corner areas, and then attack by air to win the battle.

Azalea
- Type : Open Area Central Power Map
- Players : 4 (1 o`clock, 5 o`clock, 7 o`clock, 11 o`clock)
- Tileset : Jungle World
- Size : 128128
- Version : 0.90
- Main Base : 8M+1G (4)
- Near Base : 8M+1G (4)
- Expansion : 6M (4), 8M+1G (2)
Concept and History
The name of the map, Azalea, comes from Boa`s song of the same name, and it was named because the map is filled with grass and flowers.
The map is wide open and all paths lead to the center area for a power battle at the middle of the map. From the main base to the center area there is a mineral deposit to build an expansion base. On the other side, there is a near base expansion area. In order to secure the 2 gas deposits, the mineral deposit must be guarded well first.

Because of the way the map is setup, the players can gather plenty of resources for a big ground battle at the center of the map. Also, it is possible for a sneaky drop in the corner of the main base or distracting attack directed towards the near base expansion.

Feature
Since there is no short rush route, initial attacks do not work very well. The path from the mineral-only expansion to the center area is so narrow that it can be blocked with 2 Protoss Gateways. Therefore, it is best to defend this area to secure enough resources for a lengthy battle. The center area has a lot of obstacles, making it impossible to build structures. So, this fact must be taken into account, and the 2 bridges on either side can also be used to your advantage. On the rear side of the near base expansion, there is a surrounding wall, which makes air to ground attacks very useful.

Paranoid Android
- Type : Hilly Melee Map
- Main Base : 8M+1G (2)
- Players : 2 ( 1 o`clock, 2 o`clock)
- Near Base : 7M+1G (2)
- Tileset : Twilight * Expansion : 6M (2), 6M+1G (2), 8M+1G (1)
- Size : 96Ąż96
- Version : 0.90
Concept and History
The name `Paranoid Android` comes from the song of the same name by the British band Radiohead. Just like the confusing guitar reef heard at the latter half of the song, the map
induces continuous and confusing battle between the players.
The battle area can be divided into 3 areas.

Air battle area using the very close air distance, small bridge area where initial units duke it out, and large bridge area where the ground units fight to the death. Towards the end of the match, many battles will break out in several different areas, making for a very confusing fight.

Feature
If the Zerg can survive the hardcore Zealot and bunkering attacks near the beginning of the match, they can build a second base and use the close air distance to their advantage. However, if the other player survives the Zerg air attacks, the Zerg can be at a huge disadvantage due to the fact that it is very difficult to build a third base. Therefore, it is important for Zerg players to confuse the opponent by attacking from various directions."

I know there is map stats on the wcg maps but there is no search function on their shitty site so I can't seem to find them.

Those stats seem really bad. I think they are not a good definition because they don't tell specific RvR matchup stats per each map anyways.
2005, 12, 29 03:15
wait a minute i just found an idetical page with different stats, something is wrong.
2005, 12, 29 03:18
Seems like the stats change when different players name are at the top. If anyone can figure it out please post it here.
2005, 12, 29 03:23
maybe if i compile enough information on every pro map i could write an article.
2005, 12, 29 03:24
Any pro map info you have would be beneficial
2005, 12, 29 03:25
I thought more about the history of pro maps like "In 2000, Neo Blaze has been introduced to MBC, but because of terran imbalance it has been forgotten pretty fast" [Blaze pic]

Of course someone needs pretty huge knowledge to do something like that well, don't know if you have it.

Stats without RvR are _worthless_. don't bother analysing them-_-
2005, 12, 29 10:11
History of WCG maps:
2000:(there was no "real" WCG, but some kind of smaller prototype): The Lost Temple WCG, Legacy of Char, Neo Jungle Story, Hall of Valhalla

2001: The Lost Temple WCG, Legacy of Char, Neo Jungle Story, Hall of Valhalla

2002: The Lost Temple WCG, Legacy of Char, Neo Jungle Story, Hall of Valhalla

2003: Chow chow (aka martian cross), Gorky Island, Korhal of Ceres, Dahlia of Jungle

2004: Chow chow (aka martian cross), Gorky Island, Korhal of Ceres, Dahlia of Jungle

2005: Azalea, PA, Estrella, Gaia

So I think it is very well possible those maps will be the mappack another year, and a new pack will be introduced 2007.
2005, 12, 29 10:20
Race vs Race is what i meant... in WCG it justshows a map and says 40% P 36% T 29% Z and doesn't tell that P > Z 80/2o or T > P 52/48
2005, 12, 29 10:22
Side note IloveOov builds varying units out of 12 factories during a battle in 2.5 seconds
2005, 12, 29 10:22
I would really love to read such an article
that would be more than cool!
2005, 12, 29 13:08
Just now watching a Boxer Vs. Nada VOD and seeing the R-Point Stats:
