I'm having some trouble with decoration here... I'm not quite sure how to blend dirt/snow/grass together, because none of these textures can lay close to each other, there are big gaps between each texture, which does not look natural. I am aware of the imbalances with the expansion layout, that was kind of the idea. Any advice? *No doodads/deco yet/*
*Note those four expansions with gas (not the corner expos or islands) they have 2000 gas each.
I didn't want to upload this map in the database yet, because it isn't completely finished.
tight passages(bridges). Also, it's pretty expansion rich (a lot of expos 4 two players). It's not really that imba...I'm just being retarded... It's not going in nasty's comp either, Idk what I was thinking...heh modified by Arden(WoF)
it really looks great... and really tho there are alot of different terrain transitions, itll be better for gameplay (eyes). other than that it has a great layout.
i think ice tileset cannot be nicely decorated, there will always be a big contrast between the snow and other tiles, which is bad for the eyes and dont look natural
if you try to avoid using snow or dirt, then it might be easier to decorate (i mean using structure instead of cliffs)
Too much work imo. And also, outpost does not lay close enough to water (example: bottom right expo compared to top). Ice terrain is very stubborn, I will never use it for a map like this again.
well, I would not change much on this map really. I don`t understand your concerns about the layout neither. Imo having most of the expos pretty poor would be cool, also imrpoving balance as zerg should get a bonus this way.
lol good feedback sp. Arden, your question was how to decorate in snow with terrain? In a map I'm working on now, which is snow, I'm using mostly dirt with small snow patches, dirt has better walkonable doodads, and you can add grass. As for the gaps between terrains, add doodads. Using cliff is fine, idk why you would use outpost, and the contrast between snow and the other ones is what makes is stand out, so use smaller amounts of it. As for realism, go to a snowy place, it mostly is just snow, or has very little snow
