I feel like a moron, but I just "discovered" a way to easily positionally balance maps, to fix the fact that all bottom tiles are unuseable, but the symmetry tool acts as though they are useable.
Just make your map without addressing the problem, then go to map description/settings and change it to 128x129 or w/e, just add 1 tile to the height, and it should add a line of jungle tiles (or w/e) to your map. Save a copy first, so that if it creates a line on the top instead, you can copy/paste your whole map up 1 tile, and edit it later using your copy.
lol joel, this is the most stupid thing i've read in my whole life.... you think one line of unbuildable makes de game imbalanced??
remember what happened ad spinel valley III nats? they were both mirrored, but one was bigger...
is was not at the top and bottom.
highgrounds are just taller at south, because of the WALL they make, where you can place the wall doodads (cliff, temple wall, basilica wall, etc)
that's imbalanced!
by the way... you can just go to Map dimensions and change the map size, you don't need to copy/paste the whole map in a new file...
i can't believe you didn't know this, you discoveret that whn editin "yellow"?? damn, you are awesome...
Testbug I wasn't talking to you, since you know everything about mapping.
It's not useless Protoss4ever. If you make a map with symmetry tool that has anything but only x-symmetry, there's a line of tiles on the bottom which can't be used. It isn't a big deal usually, but can create minor positional imbalances. Hence, I'm suggesting a fix which takes very little time/effort, and completely fixes this issue.
I didn't discover it while editing Yellow, and yes I am awesome, Testbug.
lol joel, do you remember thoe rocks i added at spinel valley in the northern tight path?
that's to make the path tigher (like southern) becaue of the starcraft keyboard where you attack, stop, move, build, etc.
"Testbug I wasn't talking to you" LOL!!!!
i ROFL'd when i read that parte, i love youuu xD
When making maps an irregular size, don't you have to use map settings? (And people playing over the net who aren't familiar with each other may not trust the other enough with UMS maps)
wait, so like in bloodbath how the bottom edge behind the minerals is unbuildable (which really matters for placing depots and things) you can take that out. Please exlpain in more detail
