This is actually a map I'd like to see an FFA on.
We've played on it, its quite nice. A lot of times someone has an expo they dropped into and you dont fly over it so you never know. :P
Could you upload a replay? Or better yet, get some one to cast it? Or even better yet, get some top-notch players to FFA on it and cast that life :D

Just out of interest: Do you eve care at all for these large scale maps whether there are any mining bugs and stuff like that?

If this were something like an ice map, you could have put vision blockers under the temples as well, so there is actually no way to peek into the expansions.

I think the pockets around 3/0 o'clock also need some mineral onlies, like at 12/6 and near the corners.

I feel like these 8 player FFA maps will reach max unit limit pretty quickly. Just from the minerals and gas alone they are probably up in the few hundreds in terms of units.
What's the actual map-size? I think it's actually a pretty good (8)map, but is hampered by being too big. I think the concept might work with a smaller map. It would involve fewer of those semi-island expos and also be tighter, but I don't think that's a problem since you're trying to promote semi-island play in general. Tightening things up while decreasing the size of the map would help promote the island elements of the gameplay, encouraging players to actually use the semi-island expos along with semi-island tactics as opposed to ignoring that and only going after other mains.
The maps are usually 256x256 but BWMN doesn't have sizes over 128x128. No such thing as too big when it comes to NHFFA. :P
