Ok. I yust started on my experimental map. This map is an island map, with the exeption of the presence of Warp Gates arround. Players are able to teleport from one gate to another arround the map. I havnt played this yet, but i will test it soon. You can download the map and play it, use the gates, then tell me if everything is allright.

Well I am not really interested in maps that don't work in melee. It's pretty much a funmap now, and that's not really our terrain. I don't see UMS maps being played seriously coming.

im curious if you (panschk) consider this any much different than the experimental map you made with neutral buildings.

sure, you may not be able to play the map under melee settings, but the premise (to utilize the tools and options available to create fresh gameplay and ideas) is virtually the same.

it seems to me that this is pretty much exactly the map that would belong in the experimental category

I actually like the idea, but making this with more gates would be wiser...the less portals you have, the easier it is for bunkering there and waiting for enemy's army to teleport there and hit it when in disorder.
But if you use several portals, be aware that the connected ones are clear, so you know where you teleport to. I'd suggest s.th. like the arcane sanctuary in DiabloII

I was saying how to make clear which portals are connected. and in arcance sanctuary, most are obvious, like

The warp gate thing is weird, but if you ignore them the map is perfectly fine. It's simple, but still an island map with something to maybe help zerg, in this case a nat, but it is farther than in mirage, so shouldn't be turtly at all.
