Really, sometimes it is going on my nerves people see balancing as the only important aspect of map-judging. If you have confused AI, not enough building space or an non-working observer version, perfect balancing really is not worth too much. strawberries for example had some pretty big issues with pathfinding even when it was already MOTW, noone tested it before, it just had a nice JPG look -> motw. On the other hand, maps with new features that _might_ cause heavy imbalances get rejected every time.

What I am saying is that maps that have not been played at least three times should not get motw anymore (and MOTW should have a working obs version btw)

Thats why hokus peakus is an easy bet, it is a map that is proven to be playable. We do not have to test balancing before we make a map motw (because this is reeeeaaaaaly hard), but we have to test playability, so others can test balancing later.

well, motm would be really hard...
we won't be able to decide at all. just think how many _almost_motw_ there have been before.
and we won't be able to provide that the motm is really best of all candidates.
we are not wise enough to make it really fair, unfortunately. when it's now a bit unfair, the next motw is not that far

i agree with the map of the month. with a week or so left in each month you could give a list of the top candidates and then those maps get playtested.

you guys all have great points.. but the most logical thing is to have motw. what we should really do is set up times to play specific maps.. idk if u guys already do it but its jus an idea.. a good idea would b to post it on the main forum discussions wen the gaming times would be. and we gotta make it fair for all the maps that have been voted for motw so all of them get at least 2 or 3 reps. as for motm, it would be too long and there wuld be too many maps.. i mean we could do that and it would mean the decission would be justice .. but it wuld def jus take too long.

1) use quick message to meet for games
2) feel free to make a forum thread for online meeting. Try to get some non-mappers to it too if possible

quick message? dunno what u mean? .. but yeah definently non mappers ... if u go on SC:East and go to the Terran Strategy channel (TS) and ask some one there to play the map for u .. 8/10 times they will.. hasuville will and scc-uurp wuld.. theres a couple others that show love to map makers. so try it out

motw are too frequent and usually suspect. imo you should nominate a map every week, test them as much as possible, choose a motm out of those. u need to be way more selective, and choose less maps, to put out. u guys put out random looking maps, ppl wont respect the site.

every map this site decides to showcase should be a map that you can debate should be included in the next wgtour or pgtour season, or a competitive tourney. maybe 1 every month would even bee too ften. how about map of the season? every 4 months put a map out.

IF it comes to motm, there should be several categories. like, 2player, 4player, best original, *add random wise categories*

motm wouldnt even have more quality than motw imo. it would be even more the boring maps winning i think. its just that the maps have to be tested for playability 2-3 times, that should not be a real problem. i would never put a map of mine into comp i have never played

I agree that we need to have more play-testing. I'll try to get my friends to play bwm.n maps even when I'm not around.
