boongee	Maybe make the "Newest" button on the top of the left bar a link to the Map DB sorted by date of latest comment? Shouldn't be too hard to implement.

boongee	no... I mean if you click on "Newest updates", you'll be shown a page with the ENTIRE map database sorted by date of the last comment.

Daleadil	Is it possible for a user to "login" and that way he/she doesn't have to enter their name every time and can edit/delete maps that are associated with his account. If you're going to create an extra author cross-section function for the database, then allowing seperate accounts for regulars seems to be the next logical step.

Starparty	oh.. that should be doeable i guess... and i see your point as when there is tons of maps uploaded at the same time, only the top 10 gets comments.. for th euser-betas they are sorted by latest comments if you click "under construction". As most maps are submitted as user-beta, click there until panschk fixes something just like what you're wanting.

panschk	boongee's idea is good, will be done. imo, having to login EVERY SINGLE TIME you enter the page is more annoying than writing your name quick. I don't know how to make cookies work correctly. @ all: pls don't forget that this is not my job. I only do the stuff I have time, and maybe more imnportant, motivation to do. Wanting me to change some minor detail over and over again just tires me :[

Listoric	true panschk, and again, we all love your work and the high rate of updates. It's just amazing! page 1 2 3 <- on bottom of the posts as well would be great, so you would not have to scroll up again just to turn the page then, i really like the idea of "random page" and there it would be great if you could combine it with a small thumbnail of the map. omg, i really love this page. can't wait until i get home, sit in front of my pc, drawing some graphics for this page and surfing around this great great database!! keep on the good work panschk :)

Listoric	For the "random map feature", i saw that every time i click on a new link, the random map changes. but -maybe- it would be better if the random map only changes if you reload the whole page (every time you connect to bwm.net a new random map is displayed). but you could click on "random map" to let the system choose another one. well, but that just would be slightly different and maybe useless anyway, maybe someone wants to comment on this?

Listoric	that's how it looks like on 1024 x 768 on my pc here atm. it would be great if the mapnames would be displayed in full scale in one row, and the replay names, starting with the mapname on which the replay took place, and with the players afterwards (as already sugguested somewhere) with ... <- ending if it does not fit into the field, because as it is now, it looks a bit "fucked up". :)

Listoric	ok, after clicking thoruhg 7 random maps, i like the system as it is now, so cut my sugguestion ;) BUT, it would be great if the, or an, image of the map would be displayed as sugguested. it should just be displayed over the comments, belkow the picture the "Enter GMCS" button or something and then the comments and replays, or maybe even align replays above or below comments for a cleaner look, after the replay table is almost empty.

panschk	As I already said, an image of maps is at about 150 KB. Too much for modem users on every single page imo.I can't generate thumbnails automatically, the mapper would have to upload it himself. That could be done, but would be more work for the actual mapper when uploading a map. I really want to be careful with new features and graphics everywhere, there are so many sites out there that became slower with every feature and are hard to bear with lowspeed internet connection now. gosugamers.net for example. btw I began making a statistics page. That is quite fun, as I neeed to use advanced SQL-queries to make that work, something I need to learn for my university anyway: http://www.panschk.de/mappage/stats.php

panschk	The date of the comment is not being saved yet. Imo there have already been too many posts to make this worthwile, as there is no way to get the old dates, of course.

Listoric	"What are the blue dots and the ! in the GMCS" Maybe just add a sentence like "Hover over the symbols to see the comment" and is it possible to block positions where you can add a comment? so that two comments wont lay over each other?

panschk	Listo, if you absolutely need to see what is under your comment, you can manage to get that information. Won't happen very often anyway. btw this spam on the site is gettin on my nerves. Maybe blocking the words "www.bignews.com" would make it stop, probably not :(

Starparty	yes i was just about to notify you of that. It is sad that something has to be abused just because it is possible and this will still be the biggest argument for login requirements... Yea Yea I know, i dont want that either so we should come up with a good sollution soon :6

Starparty	remove competitions sooner after deadline. atleast the shortcut link. perhaps 24hrs after deadline shortcut dissapears.. Half of the current competitions are over long time ago.

Starparty	Also make sure that all lists which updated continuosly has newest -on top- Current list not like this: Mapcompetitions list. Also change "Mapcompetitions" to "Competition" or write "Mapcompetitions" in shortcut menu instead :P just make it alike
