panschk[FP]	1984 was horrible. I really had to force myself to finish it. Last third of the book is only description of pain and turture. I prefer more positive books:) "brave new world" sounds familar to me, can you give a short recap, not sure weither I read it or not. Is it something about colonisation of mars maybe?

That is what I believe." brave new world is another book thats like 1984, in that its a negative utopia. its a book about an entire society run by sex and drugs and their caste system. they take the natural man, a man from an imperfect world and they place him within their perfect world and he rejects it.

epidiOn	Yeah they are very related. Personally, I didn't like 1984 much. Once I got into it I sort of just thought "okay already, I get it..." I think my favorite book is Dune, followed by Ender's game, and then followed by The Power of One. Anybody read these?

AiurZ	i read enders game when i was really young (i think i was in 4th grade) and it was really good back then. its a nice book, but i think the other 3 books of the quartet were more thought provoking and just better overall.

panschk[FP]	I read dune (only the first book, there were more than one right?), but this was at least 6 years ago so I don't remember too much. I just remember the bad guy was some gay pedophile fat dude and that spitting on the floor showed respect. Oh now I remember almost the whole story, it was some type of open end for the first book, but I did not feel like reading them all.

panschk[FP]	problem with all those future society romans is that I can nor distinguish them. I remember Fahrenheid (guy montag anyone?^^), 1984, etc... I mix up the content of different books too much. I read most of them in french, as my mother always gets me books to read...I never search for them myself;)

epidiOn	Yeah... there are more Dune books, but I tried to read the second one and I didn't enjoy it much. I loved the first one. Has anyone read The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay? Really great book.

Listoric	@ epidion GIMPshop is the same thing like Adobe Photoshop, but it's freeware. Just search the net for GIMPshop or The Gimp. Lovely tool, really :)
