We've been asked to create a Shared-Mains 2v2 map for the Teamliquid Christmas 2v2 Tournament. Post here if you plan on making something.
So far, I started a map and have a couple versions of it, and Starparty started working on something. If there's enough participation I'll open a competition for it.
They only need 1 map, and I assume we'll just make portfolio of maps or so and show them to Plexa, and he'll decide on which one. Or maybe he'll make a poll on tl, or w/e I dunno.
I'll upload what I've got done so far.

The tournament itself is on the 26th, but Plexa would like the map(s) as soon as possible.
Best thing about this is that you can be REALLY creative as long as you have good positional balance and things aren't too awkward (sizes, distances, shapes, etc). Simple tends to be better than complicated, as in try and avoid neutrals or spells if you can, try and just be unique with the layout and concept using only terrain. Remember, a lot of the set-in-iron features of 1v1 maps don't matter in 2v2 maps.
I just imagine that a 2-0 gas strategy could sometimes be more efficient than a 1-1 strat if the bases only have 2 geysirs. Much riskier as well, of course.
For example, I could imagine mass zeal + 2 gas muta (p harvests as much gas a needed for +1 and speed, maybe 150 more for +2, then destroys assim and zerg pumps from 2 gas),
or mass arch + mass ling (w/ speed and maybe +1/+1)
Rather difficult with a terran in the team, unless he gathers a laod of gas from the start and then manages not to lose too many medics. 2 gas terran probably won't bring that much of an advantage.
And you most likely won't be able to pump from 3 gas without an expansion (you'll need minerals), unless you are massing HTs/Archs (or Scourge!).
