Hallucinated Minerals: whoamg!!1

I just thought about this and was wondering if it could have any practical applications in a melee map. For anyone who doesn't know - hallucinated minerals act completely like normal minerals, meaning they can be mined - but they disappear, and a bit too soon unfortunately (as Zerg, it was around the time I got my overlord).

I was thinking it'd be possible to place some of them next to the CC for an early mining boost or something but then they would disappear and you'd have to mine the minerals that are further away. Now that I think about it, that has no purpose whatsoever. Nevermind.

How about blocking the choke with hallucinated minerals? It would deny fast scouting. But maybe that's a better job for P12 buildings and such.

That was sort of a random rant, but does anyone have any thoughts? >_>

The only way they can be used is to create a change in the very first gaming minute. And the only thing i can see would be to block so that no player can build anything and only mine minerals. But since it is competitive play, there seems like there is no reason to destroy every bo ever made cause of that :P It is a good idea but it has no good purpose :o

Whut? Hallucinated Minerals? I don't like mineral blocking, but the idea with the mining boost seems to be interesting. This would eventually make the early game a bit faster. You could perhaps do 8 racks without sacrificing scvs...

exactly. I dont wanna change the first 2 minutes of a game. When people choose strategy etc. boosting that can not possibly bring anything good with it.

Destroying BOs is cool. good players think all game, not only the first 2 minutes, and execute then. But afaik hallucinated minerals have already been used in mucho-money maps in 2001(?), to prevent early scouting or poolrush. (in 1.07, pool was at 150minerals, poolrush happened much more often). They were not mineable if I remember correctly.

It would be cooler if you could change the hallucinationtime and make exp dissapear during gameplay..

Melee. Minerals and geysers are actually P12 units, so liek, you can do weird stuff with them and stuff.
