Nightmarjoo, I have a suggestion. Could you edit your Spells article to include a section about getting spells to show up in the map picture? In Scmdraft2 dwebs show up in the picture like little inverted triangles, swarms like small orange clouds and neutral creep colonies show up with no creep. Only in play mode they look normal.
The way I get them to show up in the picture is to overlay them with unit (not sprite) dwebs, swarms and creep. I then make the picture but do not save the map because if I do I can't remove them.
I don't know if there is a different way to do this but I though that the whole issue is sufficiently problematic as to merrit some explanation to new mappers.

Well, then I don't know what's happening. I have Scmdraft 2.0 (beta 0.7.3) and this is how my map "spell overlap" looks when I make an image (I also put a creep colony here):
See? I have to overlay these with unit dwebs, swarms and creep colonies and then make the image for the image to look normal. I am not the only one that has this problem. Nastymarine's map CorsairHangar (MOTW 6-2007) has red squares instead of dwebs because he could not get them to show up either. The same goes for PsycHoTemplAr's map Namniar where he had to use a particular oval figure to show where the dwebs are.
Yes, that is what I said above. I have to overlay the sprites with the unit dwebs, unit swarms or unit creep colonies and then make the map image (and like you pointed out not save the map with the units because if you do you will never be able to edit them again).
I feel it is important that we have this in the spells article for mappers to know. However, Nightmarjoo claims he does not have this problem and I am trying to find out why. Nightmarjoo what version of scmdraft do you use?
Uh I don't remember which version of scmdraft I used back when I used spells in maps. I think it was one which did not have symmetry, but did have copy/paste.
Currently I have .8, I'll try it out in a bit.
