At the moment, I will only list users that either doesn't post good enough feedback to place a vote or is an alleged, fake voter. I will also post the most active and most enthusiastic members that have good feedback for maps etc - these members have quality voters above others when it comes to ties.
THIS IS NOT IN EFFECT.
QUESTIONABLE OR FAKE VOTERS:
- Cucdas: At some point, he was active here MANY months ago. Many questionabloe votes since then.
- Control: Just a questionable voter; changes his votes like an asshole.. Has done this many times before
- Herb: Has uploaded maps (Korean mapper?). Has changed votes in unison with Control, For2Motion.
- For2Motion: Questionable voter. Does not comment - just votes. His votes change in unison with Herb, and Control.
QUALITY MEMBERS:
- flothefreak: Longtime member; actively presents feedback.
- Nightmarjoo: Longtime member; actively searches for best maps.
- NastyMarine: DON'T QUESTION ME ;P
- Testbug: Newer member; actively presents a fair opinion.
- lnept: Longtime member; not active, but can present information about gameplay. Decent player.
- panschk[FP]: The god of this site; always presents feedback fairly. Not active, but does vote.
- LGI: Longtime member; not active. Though presents feedback, it seems negative sometime, but is positive for the site. His opinions are valued high.
- StarParty: Legendary. Not active, but will frequently post about positive improvement; most of his feedback relates to execution or general gameplay and positional comments.
VOTERS TO EARN VALUE:
- tktkvroom: Just because he is not active. Does not improve his maps much which doesn't tell me much about his balancing work. He has come a long way though.
- ptar: doesn't post consistently but does share good feedback. Is not active.
- SAURUS: Does not improve his maps. This leads me to worry about his abilities to balance his maps or share positive feedback. Does not post feedback ever.
- Allstar4: Does not provide consistent or enough feedback to present his quality. Not active enough.
- Alter.Ego: Does not provide consistent or enough feedback to present his quality. Not active enough.
- Crackling: Does not provide consistent or enough feedback to present his quality. Not active enough.
- Lancet: Is improving his knowledge and is on his way to becoming a quality member. Showing improved maps will get him to my Quality Members list.
ANYONE WHO I DID NOT MENTION WILL EITHER BE UPDATED LATER, OR IS NOT ACTIVE ENOUGH TO COMMENT ON.
Now seriously Nasty, so yeah you put out this "list" and testbug has already commented on the "exploits" of herb, Control, for2motion and cucdas (these last two by the way switched their votes to Morris, LOL!). So now what do you propose we do?
Should we limit voting to those in your list or in general to those who have made maps? Or to those whose maps are considered "good" by admins? Should we require that you have made a certain number of maps to vote? What if somebody who never makes maps decides to join in the voting, should we count their votes? What if a former mapper decides to show up just to vote but does not post maps or commentary? What if a voter's command of english is not very good?
These are hard questions but I just feel that we do this over and over for each MOTM. Or is this acceptable and we leave things the way they are?
Nasty, I want to say something for the record about SauruS, his map GeelurX was second place in my experimental map competition (and without the votes of herb, cucdas, for2motion or control) and so far he has made 15 maps for this database and not all of them are like his latest "Vegetable".
Other mappers to consider for your list:
PsychoTemplar: has made 18 maps: status unknown.
FateD: has made 5 maps: status active.
LML: has made 18 maps: status active.
Nureru: has made 15 maps: status active, his map Venus Illegitima was second place in one of Nightmajoo's random map competitions.
Mapghost aka M#: has made 9 maps: status active. He introduced null tiles here with his map Mazicologist. Interestingly his map "The Nightbloom" was co-authored by Herb.
uC.MorroW: has made 6 maps: status active.
neobowman: has made 5 maps: status active.
TitanWing (Moebius): has made 8 maps: status active.
LOL! OK, to the right of your screen there is a section entittled "Competitions" just click on the one that says "MOTM" although it is past the deadline to vote now (wait for the next one). The MOTY competitions are not in their voting stages yet and we don'thave MOTW anymore.
Crackling knows what he's talking about.
Templar is afk from site, taking a break from the arguments and whatnot. Personally I find his opinion usually wrong and moronic (on balance in maps), but he's tested a lot of maps for people.
LML doesn't really know what he's doing as far as I can tell.
Nureru if he was more active would become a good mapper I think, but he's not active enough to get anywhere atm.
TitanWing (Moebius) does dumb shit in his maps, but he's active and bms people, so I like him.
tk is somewhat of an idiot, but his heart is in a good place. He tests maps, not just looks at them. To say he's not improving is false, he's just not active at mapping enough to tell. But, neither am I -.-
Fated doesn't comment much more than the obvious from what I can see, but he's active and tries to comment all the maps he can, that alone makes me like him, not to mention he's a nice guy :)
Can't say much on morrow, he's fairly new, but he comments fairly often so he's fine in my book.
neobowman, no idea.
Antares, doesn't know much about sc, but is an amazing mapper anyway, idc if he's inactive.
LGI, I wish he commented balance more often is all. He's clearly competent -.-
Lancet, weird mapper. From what he says and the maps he makes, I don't think he knows a thing about sc or balance, but that doesn't stop his maps from being unique and sometimes (accidentally) nice. He's active, and that's what matters.
No need to question the real admins.
Cucdas, Herb, For2motion, and control are all korean mappers (as far as I know) and can't be expected to talk all that much (how often does any of us comment on mapdori? -.-). They all are competent mappers, and are active in their votes. If you think they are the only ones collaberating on voting decisions (and they don't always vote the same maps -.-) then you're quite blind. If you have a vote, you have politics. Why do you think Illusion won motw in its original form? Because it was a good map? Or because the other option (which had a chance at winning) was Desert Flower? lol. Don't be a hypocrite Nasty.
My conclusion: people to discout votes from: none.
Should their be rules on voting? No. I'm not even that facist wtf.
An oligarchy of voting is dumb. For one, you'd tear poor testbug in half as to who to vote with lol. You'd basicly in the end having you, myself, and testbug lol. flo isn't active, LGI doesn't care, you ignore lnept anyway, and the other real admins are very inactive.
MOTW used to work as an oligarchy because the admins and long-time mappers were all active in both commenting and mapping. Most of the maps made now are by the smaller guys, with the big names sitting on the side-lines commenting and occasionally flaming one-another. You can't discount the little guy's vote just cuz he doesn't vote for your map.
Am I being a hypocrite? I've said things which could be construed as being contrary to what I'm now saying in the past, but I've never acted on any of that.
As long as the little guys are making the maps, you can't expect the most amazing map ever to win the motm. The little guys get better over time, but until then you have to just kinda watch and comment if the big guys won't make maps regularly.
who is being a hipocrite? Just cuz i dont agree with a mapper doesnt mean i dount honor their votes etc. How am I being a hipocrite???
All i want to do is specify who really has the valuble opinions and show where ppl stand on this site and why some have more quality than others.
AND WAY TOO OFTEN DO SOME MEMBERS (Cucdas, for2motion etc) get away with vote switching etc. Just like Grig. Even if they are separate ppl, why should we honor their opinion if we cannot communicate with them? And thats not disrespect to a language barrier, but we have no clue of their reasoning.
Nightmarjoo has a good point, these things just come with the dynamics of voting. But we could ask panschk to change things as to not allow vote switching. In real life voting most of the time you vote once and that's it. modified by Lancet
Holy fuck, sorry Scout. I hadn't seen your flames in a while, and forgot :( Sorry! <3
Scout of course is one of the elite flamer squads of bwm, without him this forum would be dead, because in the past it would have been so dull that everyone would have left!
I'm against making the vote concrete.
P4ver doesn't count, he just makes pretty maps! ;)
