UrzaTron | | | Here is my newest map that I made today. I read a few of the articles on the front page, and decided to make a good map. I am satisfied with how this turned out. It's pretty simple, but I think it is far superior to my other two submissions. | UrzaTron | | | Btw, it's 192x192. And there are random trees just spewed throughout the map that don't show up in the pic. modified by UrzaTron | boongee | | | well, you've definitely improved.
I suggest you don't use anything above 128x128 because it's just too big and makes the minimap hard to use. | Holy)Sin( | | | The side bases look massive compared to top and bottoms. | UrzaTron | | | They are roughly equal, I did my best. I counted the squares in ScmDraft, so they are exactly equal at the base(against the edge of map) and in the very middle, at the widest part. The only part that would be off is where I rounded it to connect the three measured points, which is likely, as I did that by hand. | UrzaTron | | | Also, I'm aware that this is essentially your standard "Base on a hill, easily defendable nat, battlefield in mid" map, and is pretty plain, gameplay-wise. I figured that as a newer mapmaker, I should learn the basics of making a playable map before I start doing "ooh" and "aah" kind of maps. | boongee | | | yep
try a 128x128 or 128x96 two-player map. try making things exactly symmetrical. try making a basic design. that will give you the basic skills to make more interesting maps. |
