|the gas problem only refers to the main...where the gas is either on top of to the left...the other gas like naturals and etc are supposed to be mirrored.|
|as CoV says, the gas issue only refers to the gas in the MAIN BASES. ALL other gases outside the mains are exempt from the gas issue. The reason for the gas issue is that different placements of the vespene gas node mine at different rates, and sometimes the gap in mining capacity between two locations is too big for a balanced game, with one player receiving significantly more gas from their mining, while the other player is left at a terrible resource disadvantage. In mirror match-up battles, where gas is essential, such as ZvZ, it can make a big difference whether the extra 100 gas you have accumulated as the result of the gas issue over the other player, as you would be able to make 1 more mutalisk or scourge, which can be a big decision maker on who wins the game. To avoid these imbalances, we try to place the gases in the best mining positions, but only in the mains.|
