I dunno what's going on with the spell-mess, but I think the asymmetry is cool. My problem with the map is the too-different distances between mains. I don't think most games would play out in a way that would let the players enjoy the asymmetric elements as result of chaotically short or long distances.
Excalibur
I did my best to spread the mains out but when making asymmetrical 256 maps its rather hard to get everything just so.
