Are you an admin?

I gave him admin rights for the tournament map edits.
However, I don't know how to do it, either.

Oh how weird, it isn't listed in the admin options. Furthermore, the files page itself is 404'd. Guess it doesn't work anymore. Sorry to lead you on ._>

hey guys. i didnt read all the posts here (almost just the one where nightmarjoo is saying that iccup admins are incompetent :D )
im iccup-admin and i wanted to make a mapmakers tournament in the nearby future. i would have already launched it but since i have alot of exams right now and the SC:BW headadmin (my bigboss) has not so much time for iccup right now this idea was postponed.
the mainidea was to collect some maps from mapmakers (something like one or two per mapmaker, depends on how much people will participate), make an extra mappack for it and launch some casted tournaments where you can earn some points and/or icons. then, after all maps were played on tournaments and people had enough time to test them on their own, we would let the iccup-community vote the best of these maps. the winner then would be put into the iccup-mappack for at least one season(or maybe forever, i guess this depends on the feedback of the community)
so i hope you like this idea. if you have any suggestions or something else, feel free to send me a PM on iccup to the ICCup.Fry account :)

OMG. I like the idea except of the part of the feedback, cause not even the iccup maps have the feedback that some of them deserve. Just python and fighting spirit -.-!!!
It's difficult to make the players "play" other maps and make them enjoy them (and it's not because the maps are bad, because here there are awesome mappers), but it's because people only play one or two maps that are popular.
But the idea is good. If you can help us to do that would be awesome. modified by ArcTimes

@PJF: That sounds great. With ICcup in the back for running and promoting tournaments things would definitely be easier. I guess you have some people at hand who have already run tournaments and thus have some expertise on the organizing side of things?

about the feedback: i didnt ment how often this map will be played. i know that most of the people just play FS and python 24/7. i more thought about the success of this whole idea. in the end, it will be the decision of ICCup.Paladin (HeadAdmin) anyways.
@Freakling: yes the tournaments would be run by our Tournament-Admins. they have their own tournament-section and do nothing else then running tours, they know how its done^^ plus they are the only ones who can run an official iccup tour and give points to the winners.
i would like to run this project right now but i dont have the time for that at the moment :( i guess i can start with it at the end of august...
im happy that you like this idea :)

I wouldn't be so pessimistic about feedback. Such a tournament would not be for those who just ever play a handful of maps to win or whatever but for the more curous ones who like to experiment and play on diverse maps. They might be a minority, but a tournament only requires about 16+ of them and with the support publicity of IC-Cup that number should easily be achievable.

A competent iccup admin isn't too far a stretch of the imagination apparently~

To promote maps, simply put them on MOTW. For example, I see people still play Faoi, I've seen some people host it for 1v1 and 2v2 on ICCup. There will always be a handful of people which will be open to playing non-korean proleague made maps.

There's also a selection "recommended maps". Maybe we should use that more. I added all the map pack maps recently.

ok guys sorry for the delay. i have to tell you that few things have changed, so i cant tell how this idea will go out from my site. i switched to the Tournament section lately because we had a change in the possition of the Head Admin. ill have to talk to him now if i can still make this project run. i will give you a shout as soon as possible :) modified by philipjayfry

Sounds good. Maybe we can get something like this going.
This might be a stupid idea, but I'm just throwing it out there:
What if we could get some of the BWMN maps into the ICCup map pool, but make them less valuable if you get a victory on ladder. Like:
Same level vs. Same level = 90 points winner/45 points loser
Or something along the lines like that. I just gave random numbers, so those can be changed, but you get the idea. I don't see why change couldn't be something good. Change is exciting :P

Thats a nice idea but its technical not possible :( there was such an idea for the motw already and we got told that we cant do that...
due to some changes in the admin-staff it seems that we dont have a chance to get that in the ladder mappack :( there is a limit of 50 laddermaps and i guess they wont remove one of them... i will ask again so they may at least put it in the observer-mappack...
the only good news is that we can run this on iccup with news and tourneys :)
if there is anybody out there who wants to help me, i would really appreciate it since im not familiar with your community here and there are still alot of things to figure out (how to collect the maps and how many per person for example)
