As Cloak and Dagger shows I really like back doors and alternate routes.
I got a concept in my head that I can't execute however, because I cannot do XY rotational for 4p.
Pic:
M = Main
N = Natural
MO = Min Only
3rd = 3rd Expo
S= Special expo, lots of mins w/low value, maybe a gas too.
I = Islands
Neaut = Neautral block, either buildings or minblocks
Green lines = Ramps
Blue = min lines
The concept when done in XY rotational is a circular map, the outside border being a rocky ground curved path that backdoors almost every expo. This would be balanced by blocks of neut buildings and min blocks. Every expo the players take except the minonly/islands would be subject to this back door path, which you would be unable to block once the neuts/minblocks are removed.
Obviously since I did it in X+Y+XY it doesnt show the complete concept, but I believe it shows enough of it that someone might be able to do it.
My question to you BWMN is would any of our mappers who can do 4p XY rotational like to try this? modified by Excalibur
Note the nats would have turret space, however it would be impossible to wall the path off completely. I just didn't have the time to go through and make all the select tiles buildable/unbuildable.
I am too busy but you can try this. Place neutral (sprite) turrets at the junction of the grid set at size large or extra-large, this will allow you to see the grid pattern even at low magnification (25%). Use the X-Y symetry axis of the mirror tool to make the bases. First make 2 bases, say NE and SW and then make the others trying carefully to approximate the dimensions and shapes of the first two bases. Its tedious but at least that is how I do rotational symmetry. Others may have a better procedure and are welcome to make suggestions.
Yeah, it's hard to manage space when you're making a backdoor for 4 players.
I'm thinking removing island is the best thing to do if you want more space.
