Good o'l badlands. Figured since asphalt is the only + with this terrain, I'd center the map around it ^^.

I've tested this map quite a bit already, and it seems good. For a while I had only 2 structured ares in middle instead of 4 because some thought T > P. But some think P > T both ways, so I just took my original decision in having four.

I think this map works well because it's a pretty good distance from one main to another. Zerg can set up their gas expo well. Protoss can handle PvZ early game well due to the single choke to 2 bases. It is very open outside the gas nats & a little more closed in middle but still some flanking room, so I think TvP/PvT is off well. Most of my own maps even I see some race disadvantages or advantages. As for this one I really do not see any advantage for any particular matchup, so I'm pretty proud of that ;P - I'm sure some of you will have no problem in finding faults ;)

If you're thinking P > T because its so open, flankable, and there's no high ground choke, don't forget that not only the 1st nat can be cliffed, but also there's another cliff outside the 1st nat. If both are taken by Terran, Protoss can't even run out their base. Also, I used Starforge to make the bridges wallable for TvP defense.

Even the concept seems to be even more intuitive than my previous ones. I particularly like the setup of the top right/bottom left expos because they're a good expo for Protoss to take PvZ & cannon up. The middler 2 expos are of opposite type - open and can be easily harrassed, so they make for good PvT expo.
I don't think it's highly imbalanced (well, imho TvP favors P on almost every map on a lower level of play. On a level below C3 or sth on WGT, most terrans just don't know the timing, that is very important in this MU, and can't micro constantly to beat a toss on the same skill level. I would probably play 50/50 TvP or even worse against myself, even though I'm much more experienced as a terran player.)
Back 2 topic:D :
The map looks very good for badlands, and the low number of gas expos is very good and helps balancing, as the rest of the layout favors zerg quite a lot (asphalt gives lurkers an invisibilty-bonus, because black on black is not that easy to see-_-, long distances between mains, structures that can be used for lurkers again)
Though, i miss the big skelleton, the crashed vessel and the anciant temple ;P
You telling me somebody would drop lurkers on top of the structures?... I had more in mind maybe dropping tanks to seige while pushing TvP.
Well, with my 120 APM, I wouldn't even think about that:O A terran that can eat a sandwich and read a book while doing a push would probably do it though:)
I don't really know, it is less because of imbalances, but because it just looks unprefessional that I dislike those 4 buildings imo-_-
Well they are there more for the reality look of things than the professionality. Like driving down the road in the middle of no where and its a mini ghost town. Still, they play a key roll in covering Terran's back while pushing which makes up for the enormous open area on both sides of the middle.
I like everything about this map except the name. When you know the SC story inside out, it feels kinda desperately i-dont-know-what-to-name-my-map name youchose :P

but as i said, the map itself matches all my demands, and i think the center layout overall is very great with those big areas on the sides.
Damn I was proud my of name *cries*
I spent 30 minutes rummaging through the original SC scenarios to find a place or city with the badlands tileset x.x

The orginal name was The Road to Korhal, but I recalled that Korhal wasn't actually a "place." There was the "Sons of Korhal." I liked the original name too, but you probably wouldn't view it any different since it too is built in from the game :P
Korhal was the planet where arcturus mensk came from. But after years of dispute the confedracy finally nuked the entire plannet. That is why Arcturus starts his crusade to destroy the confedracy. During the entire original SC terran campagin you help him with that. And in BW terran campagin YOu invade the capital of Korhal - Augustgrad. Remember the double scenario - "wings of War" or "Ground Zero" ? :)

imo, choose a more general name.. roads to eternity, or whatever :)
(And since Korhal was nuked to oblivion, the entire planet is a desertplanet, thus making the name kinda inapropriate ;D. That is where the desert tileset comes from)
Antiga prime too is an entire planet btw ^^^^^^
Guess its kind of dumb to call this beta if its gonna be in a high level tournament
more bw4ever
sadly i only got one game on my maps (crusader)
and that game was pretty bad (beacause i raped him pvz)
ermz, why has this map been bumped and why is there a wrong picture in it?
someone overwrote it: (2)ROA~1.SCM.jpg first three letters could be common. therefore i use JPG-Mapname.jpg :)
I repladed the pic, I thought a blizzcon map shouldn't have a pic of one of tk's garbage spam maps for it -_-
RTAP! What a pleasant surprise finding this map here! Some great games were played in this map at the Blizard Invitational tournament back in 2005, but I was impressed by 3 specific games.

In one of Nada vs Reach, Reach sent his 4rth probe to Nada's base and warped in a pilon and two gateways inside the base undetected while Nada was walling himself in with a depot and barracks! I could imagine the look on Nada's face when the Zealots flooded his base!

In Nada vs Nalra, Nada found a way to drop a tank behind Nalra's mineral line (I have tried this, it's really hard to find the spot!) and with the help of 2 vultures and a dropship wrecked havock on toss's base.

Finally in Nada vs Legionarie despite the losses of multiple skirmishes Nada expands over 2/3 of the map, reaches a control of 200 in 20 minutes amasing a huge army in the center and proceeds to wipe out toss. So much for P > T on RTAP!
lol I haven't seen all the reps yet for this map, feel free to upload them if you have them.
OK, I've loaded the replays. I have no idea what patch they were but they work OK with patch 1.13. Sorry if I messed up in filling out the info, it is the first time I upload this stuff into here.
thanks for the reps :)
